Be GOOD!!!

BE GOOD!!!

       I was invited to speak to some upward mobile music ministers on Sunday 28th June. As usual I`d ask for an area of concentration cos I have noticed from experience that people want to know everything and have all their problems solved in one speaking encounter and thats not possible. So I asked the organisers for an AOC and they gave me a list! So I told them i wasn`t gonna speak on any particular subject but would allow them express their most daunting problems and we would together find solutions. They agreed.

So we began. Their issues ranged from leading worship to doing solos to song arrangements to stage fright to self confidence to costumes to dynamics to getting along with the band to backing up to opportunity......Yes! That last one is what i wanna talk about today. 

My question to them was; in the real world PREPARATION comes before OPPORTUNITY but when you come to church , why do people want the opposite, especially music ministers? You hear stuff like "they pick only the people they like to do play the major roles or do special songs in special services" or " Is brother Simon the only male in this choir? How come he gets to do all the male solos?" To these questions and more i answered without any form of hesitation...... BECAUSE THEY ARE GOOD!!!! THEY ARE THE BEST PEOPLE AVAILABLE!!!! . If you want to always be chosen for lead roles there's only one way out...BE GOOD! 

You know why you are not as good as you ought to be? Because you working hard everyday on being someone else. That someone else you are trying to become is being himself/herself. Find YOU! You may not be a fantastic singer like Whitney but you could be a fantastic song writer like James Fortune. Find YOU! You may not be able so sing amazing notes like J Moss but you could be a simple but powerful worshipper like Don Moen. Find YOU! You may not be able write powerful songs like Nathaniel Bassey but you could lead people to praise like Chioma Jesus. FIND YOU! And after you have found you, BE GOOD! As you become GOOD, the opportunities you seek and need would naturally flow towards you. 

Now get serious with your music and your mministry, encourage yourself.....I AM GOOD! Work at being GOOD with all your heart! Get GOOD! Hey, music minister, BE GOOD!!!
